How to grow microgreens?
1. Get your seeds ready 🌾
Some seeds (like peas or sunflower) love a little spa moment before growing – a gentle soak in clean, room-temperature water for 6–12 hours can do wonders.
Check our detailed variety guide
But not all seeds enjoy soaking. Sticky ones like chia or basil? Not their thing – they turn into jelly and won’t grow properly.
🟡 Not sure if your seeds need soaking?
Every variety is a little different, so it’s always a good idea to check the instructions for the ones you got from our shop.2. Let’s plant! 🌿
Time to give your seeds a cozy home!
Sprinkle them evenly over a shallow tray filled with moist growing medium – it could be a fluffy mix of peat and perlite, or a coconut coir mat if you prefer mess-free growing. No need to bury them – just press gently so they stick to the surface and feel snug.
🟡 Tip: Different seeds like different vibes (aka substrates). If you’re not sure which one to use, our growing instructions will point you in the right direction.
See sowing tips for each variety3. Keep it dark & weighted 🕶️
Cover the tray with another tray or a blackout dome and add a light weight (1–3 kg). This helps the seeds stay in contact with the surface and supports even germination.

Leave them in the dark for 2–4 days, depending on the variety. Check daily to make sure they're moist but not soggy.4. Let there be light! ☀️
Once the seeds begin to sprout and push up the cover – it's light time!

Place your tray under grow lights or near a bright window. Microgreens need about 10–14 hours of light per day.
Keep watering gently from the bottom to avoid mold and overwatering.5. Harvest & enjoy ✂️
Microgreens are usually ready to harvest when the first true leaves appear – typically between 7–14 days after sowing.
We recommend using a sharp knife for a clean and quick cut just above the growing medium. Scissors are also fine, especially for home use.💚 To store harvested microgreens, keep them dry and place them in an airtight container in the fridge.

They’ll stay fresh and crispy for about 5–7 days.
