    ABOUT

Rape microgreens (Brassica napus) are one of the most rewarding crops a grower can sow: tiny round seeds that swell, crack and send up pale shoots almost overnight, unfurling into a deep-green, almost velvety canopy within a week. The flavour is gentle and clean — think young kale crossed with a whisper of broccoli — with a satisfying crispness that holds up beautifully in warm dishes without wilting into nothing. Scatter a generous handful over a soft-boiled egg toast, toss them through a warm farro salad, or blend them into a morning smoothie for a grassy, pleasant depth. Rapeseed microgreens offer an exceptional seed-to-plate ratio and, because the seeds are tiny and inexpensive, each tray delivers outstanding value — order now and have your first harvest on the table before the week is out.

    GROWING INSTRUCTIONS
1 Fill your tray with 2–3 cm of moist, fine-textured potting soil or a coco growing pad — no pre-soaking of seeds needed. Level the surface gently with your hand; you will already notice how silky the damp medium feels, which is a good sign it is ready.
2 Scatter 10 g of seeds evenly over the surface of a 25×50 cm tray (about 0.8 g for a 10×10 cm tray). Rape seeds are tiny and round, so a gentle shaking motion from side to side helps them land in a single, mostly non-overlapping layer — aim for seeds just touching, not piled on top of each other.
3 Mist the surface lightly with water, then stack another tray on top (or cover with a dark lid) to create a blackout environment. Place in a warm spot at 18–22 °C. Within 24 hours you will see the first small white tails emerging from the seeds — this is the first exciting moment of the grow.
4 Keep in blackout for 2–3 days total, checking daily. Bottom-water if the medium feels dry — pour water into the outer tray and let the soil drink it up from below. By day 2 or 3, you will find a dense mat of pale yellow sprouts pushing enthusiastically against the cover.
5 Remove the blackout cover once shoots are 2–3 cm tall and move the tray under a grow light or onto a bright windowsill. Within hours, watch the cotyledons begin to turn a vivid, glossy green as chlorophyll floods in — one of the most satisfying colour changes in all of growing.
6 Water once or twice daily by bottom-watering, keeping the medium evenly moist but never waterlogged. Make sure there is good airflow around your trays after germination — a small fan on low works perfectly and keeps mould at bay, which is especially important for dense brassica trays.
7 Harvest at 8–12 days when the cotyledons are fully open and the canopy is a uniform glossy green, before true leaves emerge. Use sharp scissors or a knife and cut just above the soil line. Rinse, spin dry, and enjoy immediately — the flavour is at its brightest and the texture at its crispest right after harvest.
